Yes it was a great Easter

It was a great Easter for Erin and Anna Liggett. It started with Mass with Mom and Dad at St. Paul. It was beautiful with all the lighted candles. We went to Baba and Grandad's for lunch at noon on Easter Sunday. The trees in the few days before Christmas began to leaf out and Grandad was surprised to see the rhodobndendrum had bloomed in time for Easter. Anna and Erin posed for a picture in front of it with new singing Easter bunnies they got along with full Easter baskets. In the afternoon we went with Bemaw to Aunt Cathy and Uncle Gil's and had the traditional Easter egg hunt. And the best part is still to come--a whole holiday week from school.

PS: Thanks to Uncle Don and Aunt Alice for the nice comment on the item below this.

Welcoming our new Bishop

All students at St. Paul School join me in welcoming our new bishop, the Most Reverend Richard Gerard Lennon.

No, of course, we have not met the new Bishop and, no, we were not in Cleveland to see him, but thought it would be nice to post this information as a way of welcoming him.

Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 announced the selection of The Most Reverend Richar
d Gerard Lennon, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston to be the tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Cleveland.

The Most Reverend Anthony Michael Pilla welcomed and introduced Bishop-Designate Lennon at a 9:30
a.m. news conference held on Cathedral Square in downtown Cleveland . Bishop Lennon, currently the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia of the Archdiocese of Boston, will be installed as the new Bishop of Cleveland on Monday, May 15, at 3 p.m. in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, E.Ninth & Superior Avenue, Cleveland.

Born 59 years ago in Arlington, Massachusetts, Bishop-Designate Lennon graduated from Catholic High School and then attended Boston College before entering St. John's Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts where he received an M.A. in Church History and M.TH. in Sacramental Theology. He was ordained to the priesthood in May, 1973 and served in a variety of posts including parish priest, Fire Department Chaplain (sometimes participating as a firefighter), as Assistant for Canonical Affairs, and Rector of St. John's Seminary. He was ordained as an Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Boston on September 14, 2001.

The Most Rev. Anthony M. Pilla will complete his tenure as the longest serving Bishop in diocesan history, having celebrated his 25th anniversary this past January. Upon his retirement, Bishop Pilla will take a sabbatical to reflect and discern, as he considers several opportunities to continue in ministry. Bishop Pilla plans to reside in greater Cleveland.
